PTSD – Time to break down the stigmas, demystify this term that feels so huge and overwhelming so we can shift to understanding and healing. |
So we had the first Reclaiming the Womb workshop Sunday. 6 women showed up – and when I say that, I mean that they brought their whole self ready for whatever the afternoon held, ready to embrace whatever came up, ready to stop, slow down, breathe and feel. That takes bravery. Trauma can interfere with our growth, our ability to handle those transitions and step into the expansion we’ve been discussing. – Did you create a mantra? – What are you doing to heal? We love being part of this ever changing conversation around trauma. 🌿 Broadening the Definition of Trauma • Conversations are expanding beyond combat veterans and severe trauma such as rape or a life-threatening accident. • More focus on complex PTSD (C-PTSD), developmental trauma, medical trauma (especially birth trauma, surgeries), sexual trauma, and collective trauma (pandemics, natural disasters, social unrest). •Acknowledgment of intergenerational trauma and how it can manifest somatically. 🧠 Body-Based Healing + Somatics • Increasing awareness of how trauma lives in the body — not just the mind. • There are so many ways to make mind, body, emotion connections and heal through the subconscious where this lives: ○ Myofascial release 🙌 (you know where to find us) ○ Somatic experiencing ○ TRE (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) ○ EMDR ○ Breathwork ○ Vagal nerve toning ○ Nervous system regulation workshops (we offer several throughout the year.) |
I hope you see that there is some good news – there are SO many ways to heal. I wanted to give you guys some practical content also. Kate Shipp and I recorded a 3 part podcast series on trauma, grief, sex and more. Now this is almost 3 hours of listening if you so choose but the main point is that are lots of ways to be seen, be heard, to get support moving through to greater healing, greater victory, more emotional intelligence, better living. –More THRIVING, not SURVIVING! |
This is a huge topic but we have to start somewhere. Remember our original mantra is No Settling, No Suffering, No Shame! We want that for you. Please reach out for any other resources you need or to share what’s working for you! Much love, Amy and the MOT team! |
