Hey MOT Fam – Amy Cruz here and so excited to be chatting with you. A new year has begun, the holidays are over, and the stress is gone…or is it?  Unfortunately, holiday stress can be caused by a variety of factors, including financial stress, unwelcome guests, and the dizzying array of demands.  Honestly, the list of stressful factors can go on and on seemingly without any end in sight.  Stress can figuratively, and quite literally make you feel like you are carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders.  And wouldn’t it be fabulous if you could just snap your fingers to recover from the holiday stress?!

Well, fortunately there are a variety of ways to cope including meditation, yoga, walking or hiking outside breathing in the fresh air, listening to relaxing music, or just saying ‘No’ and allowing yourself a moment to just be alone and escape reality.  But did you know that there are also a variety of myofascial release techniques that can aid in releasing stress from the body?

Here at Moment of Truth Physical Therapy we work with hundreds of people plagued with not only holiday stress, but weighed down with the day to day stressors that can cause neck and shoulder muscles to tighten up leading to aches and pains, stiffness, headaches and migraines. Check out this picture below of some of the most common culprits.

One of the techniques we thoroughly enjoy providing to our clients is a suboccipital myofascial release which can help diminish tension in the neck and shoulders while minimizing those pesky headaches and migraines.  It happens to be my personal favorite myofascial release technique as it has the capacity to modulate pain-induced autonomic control and regulation without conscious effort, meaning you walk out of our clinic feeling figuratively, and quite literally, lighter and free from the stress that was plaguing you.

So if you feel stress is a limiting factor in your life, contact us at 623-226-4002 and ask how we can help!  I’d love an opportunity to help you lift the weight of the world off your shoulders.  Take the time you deserve to find relief!
