What does your prostate have to do with your heart?
Amy V here! So I recently filmed a video (sorry it’s not edited yet) but I was sharing about a client I’m seeing for pelvic floor concerns, specifically prostatitis and his main symptom currently is enlargement and that’s affecting his urine stream.
His urologist was very supportive of him trying shockwave to help reduce inflammation in his prostate. He had a previous flow test and that will be repeated 3 months after we complete his 6 shockwave sessions so we’re excited to get some specific before and after evidence.
While I’m extremely grateful that his urologist was so supportive and so grateful that his Christian health share plan was willing to cover the cost, they were only willing to do so if it was for his prostate and not for ED (erectile dysfunction).
Here’s the major problem with that, which is why I’m bothering to write this post.
DID YOU KNOW:
- ED is one of the first signs of cardiovascular disease and can help physicians treat early before major heart attacks, clogs or strokes occur
- Having healthy and regular sex keeps the prostate healthy by helping to flush out toxins
- There is also evidence that regular sex is associated with a healthier, happier lifestyle, overall benefitting health
- Prostatitis can make sex painful and difficult
- Prostatitis and constipation are also linked – enlarged structures, whether the bowel or the prostate can interfere with the other’s functioning.
- ED often leads to severe stress and can compromise mental health
- There is a statistically significant link between migraines and ED
The bottom line of all of this is that there are valid and important medical issues that need to be addressed far beyond pleasurable sex – as if that wasn’t a good enough reason by itself – which it is! Just in case anyone needed me to be clearer about that. We have a FREE REPORT on our website that connects some more dots so feel free to grab it or pass it on – we promise we won’t spam you or ever sell your info!
As much as we are here for women and all they face, my heart goes out to men who have far fewer options when it comes to pelvic health therapists.
That’s why we’ve been so passionate about sharing during June for Men’s Health Month and about shockwave which is an amazing way to treat many conditions without
- injections or needles
- medications
- surgery
- downtime
If you or someone you know are struggling with anything surrounding prostate or pelvic health, please share about pelvic physical therapy
