Happy Valentine’s Day everyone!  Did you know that Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love, passion and intimacy?  I’m sure you did – Hallmark makes sure we know this!  It’s also a day to express admiration and affection for friends, family and partners.  But what about celebrating love and admiration and affection to YOURSELF as well?  

All too often we try to please others, do for others, make life easier for OTHERS.  But self love is just as important for so many reasons!  Did you know that self love can improve your mental health and reduce anxiety, depression and anger?  Self love is also important for our self esteem and allows us to accept ourselves for who we are and recognize our worth.  More importantly, self love encourages us to take care of ourselves, both physically and emotionally and help to foster healthy relationships.  Taking time for yourself will provide you with self-confidence and happiness! 

Good news is, self love can be shown in a variety of ways: being honest with yourself, providing daily affirmations, and even forgiving yourself when you’ve messed up (YIKES! Self love can be hard to do sometimes!).  But other easier ways include going for a walk, eating your favorite meal, getting a mani / pedi, buying yourself flowers (insert Miley Cyrus song here), jam out to music, read a good book, or even take a nap.
