Did you know that 12% of women have issues with getting pregnant?
And sadly in some instances, endometriosis is to blame. This month we want to raise awareness about the 176 million women worldwide who suffer from endometriosis. Maybe it will be easier to wrap your brain around 10% – 10% of ALL women suffer or will suffer with this and keep in mind it is significantly underdiagnosed because a formal diagnosis requires surgery to confirm. So what exactly IS endometriosis, you might say? Well, endometriosis is a disorder in which tissue that lines the inside of the uterus begins to migrate outside of the uterus, impacting the ovaries and the fallopian tubes, and at times spreading even farther, affecting intestines and even digestion. This could cause extreme pain in the pelvic region and also cause:* Cysts* Adhesions* Heavy periods* Bleeding between periods* Infertility
Typically, women are given this diagnosis without much hope. But here at Moment of Truth PT, we focus on removing structural barriers and scar tissue present within the pelvic floor caused by endometriosis. We use visceral and fascial techniques to improve circulation and decrease inflammation. And we provide the hope many women are missing…the hope of experiencing a healthy and happy pregnancy or being able to be symptom free!

This picture is showing how the endometriosis can cause adhesions between the bladder and other tissues, which can also happen around the rectum and intestines as well. This affects digestion and can contribute to inflammation snowballing. We are finding extraordinary results with the shockwave for calming that inflammation, improving healthy vascular tissue growth and laying down healthy collagen. We’ve even started collaborating with a company to help gather research showing how shockwave is impacting these conditions. Here are some other tips for helping your overall health:1) Increase your fiber intake which can help with digestive function, reducing estrogen concentration in the body (which endo can often use to multiply faster)2) Anti-inflammatory foods such as whole foods, fruits, veggies, spices such as garlic, turmeric and quercetin, omega-3 foods such as fish3) Supporting your mental and physical health with gentle exercise, time outside and calming your nervous system with breathing or meditation. This is more complicated than our brief email can cover but we are passionate about helping women not suffer with this affliction or rely only on birth control to disrupt the endocrine system. Please reach out with questions or send family our way! We’re here to help!
